Sussex Bonsai Group are delighted to welcome John Trott the award-winning president of the Taunton and Somerset Bonsai Club on Wednesday 22nd October 2008 at Wivelsfield Green Village Hall.

John started growing bonsai in 1969.  He went full-time in 1999 after being part-time as a bonsai business since 1996.  He runs a very successful educational workshop based bonsai business, as well as a private nursery and exhibitor at most of the large horticultural shows in England.

He propagates many species himself and specializes in growing pines and acers, to name but a few.  The Nursery carries a wide range of trees from starter to specimen bonsai, with plenty of his own field grown stock, of which he started growing some 20 years ago.

On the exhibition side, the award of best in show at RHS Tatton Park was the first time a bonsai display had gained such a prestigious award and this was also followed up with best in show at Wisley 2007.

Mendip Bonsai Studio continues to excel to even greater heights with exhibition results during 2007, scooping GOLD awards at all but one of the RHS events that they attended to date, including a prestigious GOLD at Chelsea.

In 2008, make a note in your diaries, they will be making a return visit to the Robin Hill Garden Show on the Isle of Wight, 26th-27th April.
